Now Playing

I'm going to have a year end list soon of my favourite new music of
2005. Right now I have my headphones on and my minidisc is loaded with

Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - s/t
Rogue Wave - Descend Like Vultures
Antony and The Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

I'm listening to these to make sure I haven't missed out on anything.

p.s. I really want an iPod. Too bad this minidisc makes it a frivolous want.

Dumb Indie Rock related comic strip

http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=394

this might have been relevant 5 years ago but now pitchfork cares more about rappers, faux-metallers, and dance rock hipsters than indie rock pioneers like Moore, Mascis, and Malkmus.

Coachella Film coming soon

Hey, there will be a Coachella movie soon. It will have some
performances from all years including the one I went to and last years
featuring the Arcade Fire. check out http://coachellafilm.com/ for
more info

Saturday Night Live still sucks but...

Next week, a rerun of the episode which Napoleon Dynamite hosted. I
saw most of it and it's unfunny except for the Napoleon's monologue
which is a real treat for fans. I tape it but never got the full thing
(and accidentally taped over Bob Dylan - No Direction Home, which I
now have on DVD, thanks Dad). So maybe it gets funny again. Ashley
Simpson is the host. This just in Bush jokes = not funny!

However, January 14th is an indie wet dream with host Scarlett
Johnansen and musical guests Death Cab for Cutie. What the shit? I
knew they had a much larger profile now and they sell out venues here
instantly but I didn't know they were SNL big. What next? The Shins?
I'd put money on it.

As for last weeks episode, I taped it and tried to watch it last night
but I did a full twelve hour sleep starting at 7. Well I was woken up
once by Yoda (the cat) knocking stuff over on my desk. Anyway,
musicial guest: Neil Young, host: Jack Black. Jack's opening monologue
was a hilarious song about King Kong. The best skit, possibly in
years, is The Chronic-what?-les of Narnia a rap, (ex.

that doesn't work, google the SNL/NBC homepage.

Tis the season to be blogging

No it's not. Man. I'm looking forward to returning to my homeland this Saturday. Unfortunately, I predict that i will be spending very little time in Saskatoon. I wish I had a vehicle there.

I must be back in Seattle to work on the 27th. New year will be spent at The Tractor Tavern, with music by The Long Winters... woo!
