I Saw the World's Largest Rodent

In case you didn't know I am now in Monterrey, Mexico and I'm having a great time. I'll post more pics and more story later. But for now listen to the tale of the awesome pet store/zoo and Capybara the World's Largest Rodent.

I did not take this pic. I found it on the net. You were not allowed to take pictures inside which is really too bad.

Did I mention there was also a miniature horse there? I might go back. there was a monkey with a hemaroid hanging out of his ass. also there were these real cool turtles that would climb the glass and tip over on their backs and you'd think they were screwed but then another one would come and flip him and so we wondered what would happen if you only had one turtle or if they were all on their backs but instead I saw one use his own momentem to tip himself. They were probably doing it on purpose to fight boredom. There was also a bird room where you are in the room with the birds and this peacock looking mofo totally jumped across the rail right behind me and I ran out of that room like the dickens.

Also I have tickets for Jethro Tull on Friday night woooo

Three Memorable Science Fiction Stories from my High School curriculum

Ah, youth! We read some great and twisted things back in the day.

R.U.R. Rossums Universal Robots (1920) - Karel Capek
This is actually a play, not a short story. The term "robot" was coined here. I remember it as a commentary on labour and human nature but I need to re-read it. I believe this one was in a grade nine text.

The Feeling of Power (1958) - Isaac Asimov
I've been searching for this one for a long time. I don't remember what grade we read it in but I remember being younger. From what I remember, this happens in a future where human have become so reliant on computers that they have forgotten how to perform basic math. A scientist figures out a way to do calculations on paper (which is described in great detail). A military man decides that, with the use of this new math method, human lives are less expensive than computers. He comes up with the idea of "manned missiles", where humans are piloting the bombs - Nicely disturbing and relevant!

My Object All Sublime (1961)- Poul Anderson
Hmm, I can't seem to find this one on the net. I hope I have the right title and author. Basically, in the future the police will throw criminals back in time rather than in jail. If anyone finds this online, let me know.

BONUS
Harrison Bergeron (1961) - Kurt Vonnegut
We never read this in high school but I'm including it because it is a favourite of mine. It's about when political correctness gets out of control.
